There's this old joke about dogs looking like their owners, or perhaps it was vice-versa, but I've never known it to have much evidence in reality. It takes an acutely astigmatic imagination to see much similarity between an red-haired girl and an Irish setter or a shovel-faced Englishman and his bulldog. Some people would argue that these two are pretty well matched, but I'd have to disagree.

She's much uglier than her dog.

I've always thought that Pugs were an acutely unsightly breed, what with their wrinkled heads and flattened snouts, perpetually wearing a insipid smirk. But now that I see things in context, this little fellow is kinda cute, after all ...

... and he probably snorts less.
